One year today…
Today marks the anniversary of our return to the U.S. We were just beginning this journey. A part of me feels as if we’re STILL just beginning it.
We were both so full of worry, yet so full of hope at the same time. That’s something else that hasn’t really changed. I remember grudgingly purchasing the flight back to Michigan at the behest of María José. We had an appointment scheduled with Rick Solomon at U of M on March 12 of last year, just four days after arriving into the country. I expected him to tell us that we were being paranoid, that he’s fine, that we were wasting his time. He did none of the above.
Progress this year was slower than I originally expected (after all, I said we’d be back in Spain by summer of 2004). But I’m more convinced than ever that Rubén will recover, and recover fully.
On a related note, we’re back in Michigan, and our trip to Sonoma was about a thousand shades of awesome. I’ll do a full post on it (complete with pics) within the next day or two.
