A fresh start.

So you get busy. A bit of time passes between postings. Business trips, book writing, medical trips, etc. A bit more time goes by. Before long, making that next post seems like a Herculean task, because so much has happened since the last time you posted that you’re not even really sure where to begin.

Let’s begin with the kid. As mentioned in my last post, he was doing pretty well on chelation. Then we took a trip to Pennsylvania, to give lipid and glutathione IVs a try. We took Rubén off the DMPS, because if we did see improvement, we wanted to be able to attribute it to something concrete. During the two weeks of infusions, the positive effects of the DMPS began to erode, and nothing much was happening with the IVs. The main thing we saw depart was his good mood, which gradually turned sour as the days went on.

In short, we spent A LOT of money on this trip, and in the end saw very little return. Now that we’ve got him back on chelation, he’s doing okay again, particularly his disposition, praise whatever higher power is pulling the stings.

My 33rd birthday came and went without too much fanfare. As I didn’t get my gadget fix this past Christmas, I made up for it by campaigning for a new Playstation Portable. I won’t bore the non-gadgetgeeks in the room with all the details, but let it suffice to say that I looooove it.

As you can probably tell if you’ve been here more than once, the site has a new look. I finally bit the bullet and updated to the newest version of my blogging software after clearing out the comment spam was becoming a full-time career. Comments now work a bit differently. You have to enter your name and e-mail address, and if you haven’t posted a comment before, I have to personally approve it before it gets posted. Sorry to be so Draconian about it; blame the spammers.

There. That wasn’t too hard. Hopefully I can be all like Stella and get my groove back in short order…

Glad to have you back Daniel… missed reading your posts! The site looks great - love the new look - you inspire me to get our own site up & running. Glad to hear that Ruben is getting back to himself again… hope it continues!

Thanks, Susan! I may end up altering the template a bit (my wife hates it). He did reasonably well today, so I think we’re starting to pull him out of his funk (addressing some of his gut issues, too, which I’m sure helps…)

    Hi Daniel -

Stacey gave me the site address when I asked how you were. Sorry we only got to speak briefly at the party. Glad the book’s coming along well! I enjoy reading your posts, and I hope all continues to go well with Ruben’s progress.

Thanks, Carla! Didn’t know you were a reader of the site. The book is coming along slow but well. What’s new in your neighborhood?
